IntoRec Program

The IntoRec Program is available to families of children and young people who have a diagnosed disability including intellectual, physical, sensory disability, developmental delay, acquired brain injury or mental illness.

 

A wide variety of recreation programs and social activities, developed according to client needs and preferences, are offered and include camps, school holiday programs, after school programs and a range of other enjoyable recreational activities.

 

These programs essentially aim to assist children and young people with disabilities to develop skills and to promote community access to all aspects of their local community.

 

School Holiday Program

 

School holiday activities are offered over each school holiday period.  This program is for children and young people aged 6 - 17 years, and aimed at giving carers a break from their caring role over this period of time as well as offering something fun and exciting for the particpants.

 

Afternoon Recreation Program

 

The Afternoon Recreation Program runs five afternoons a week during school terms in Shepparton. This program is aimed at children and young people aged between 6 -17 who cannot access mainstream childcare programs because of their age, or due to their needs.

 

This program is aimed at encouraging health and fitness amongst young people, while incorporating a living skills, social interaction and learning element.   Some of the activities offered include a range of sporting and outdoor activities, taekwondo, swimming, dancing, and trail walking. Other popular activities include Lego, cyber-gaming, cooking, music and art.  

 

Young Adult Social Group

 

This group is for young people aged 18-25 years who are making the transition from youth into adult services. Activities occur on a monthly basis and take place on a weekend. A range of age appropriate and entertaining activities are undertaken.

 

Camp Program

 

The camp program is a long respite program to allow families/carers a generous break.  Camps are run overnight for a weekend or overnight. Camps have been held at Camp Curumbene, Nagambie Lakes, Torquay, Billabong Ranch and Melbourne Zoo.
