Employed Carers Respite Program helps you to balance your career with your caring role.
Who is eligible for the Employed Carers Program?
This program assists people who are employed or studying and also provides help on a regular basis to a family member or friend in the community who:
- is over 65 years, or over 50 if indigenous, and requires assistance with tasks such as home care, supervision, shopping, meal preparation or transport;
- has diagnosed dementia.
How can the Employed Carers Program help?
If yu regularly assist someone in any of these ways, and find it impacts on your employment or study commitments, we can support you.
The types of assistance we can provide may include:
- In home respite care;
- Meal preparation;
- Care for the aged person before and after attending planned activity groups;
- Other flexible support options that best meet your needs.
What is the cost?
Carers may be asked to make a small contribution toward the cost of care. This is negotiated on an individual basis.
